Hello!  My name is Brooklyn, and my foster Mom says I am just as handsome as they come!  My favorite things are belly rubs and getting brushed.  I also like toys, walks, running in the fenced in yard and playing with cats!  I’m pretty bashful but if you give me time I’ll warm up to you.  I’m looking for a quiet forever home without small humans (they scare me!).  Do you have room in your heart and home for me?

Brooklyn was surrendered in AR by a breeder.  He is very shy but he is slowly learning that life can be great!  He walks beautifully on a leash, is crate trained and does pretty well with his housetraining if kept on a schedule.  You would have to look hard to find a dachshund as sweet as this boy, and he is such a gentle soul!  As his personality emerges, he is also showing signs of being quite a clown.  Brooklyn will make the right adopter a wonderful companion.

***BROOKLYN has Progressive Retinal Degeneration (PRD).  He has lost sight in one eye and with time will lose sight in the other eye too.  His vet recommends that his adopter takes him to an ophthalmologist  for a clearer prognosis because Brooklyn was too shy to look the vet in the eye for long during his exam.

Have been ill…so sorry!

Hello everyone…I am so sorry I have been away.  I have been ill and was in the hospital with internal bleeding.  I am recouping now and getting back on my feet.  I want to apologize to you all for being away so long…we are working on a new blog for you and for the rescue pups of the country and some fun things also.  We promise that it will be open soon.  Till then I am going to try to post some new pups very soon.  Just wanted you to know why the site has not been updated for a bit!

BECKY ANN came from a small shelter her in TN along with we think her mom. Becky Ann was adopted out and returned because they said she was not housebroken. She needs a fenced in yard that she can go out into along with another dog that can show her the roads. She needs positive reinforcement to learn what is right and wrong. We’ve had no problems with her here since she has been back but we have a fenced in yard and dogie door. Becky Ann is sweet sweet beyond words and loves to do her own thing or follow you around the house. She will play a little with the other dogs but is more mellow that playful. BIO: Hondo was a well loved dog but his family did not have time for him.  He is such a wonderful dog.  Hondo is AKC certified.  He loves to have his belly rubbed and wants to sit with you.  He really enjoys sleeping in the big bed and hates the kennel. He is a great companion and will follow you to make sure you are okay.  He does pull when he is on a leash because he didn’t get a lot of walking time before but at his foster home, he is learning how to be a better walking partner.  He really loves a house that has a doggy door so he can go outside and lay in the sun or just smell everything.  He does really well with other dogs and would do great in a home where he has someone to play with.  He needs to lose about 4 pounds but is working on that!!  Hondo is a great man dog – he prefers men over women but will also give love to a woman!  Hondo deserves a great home that has the time for him.  Can you give him that home?

BIO: Belle, Belle, Belle. What a gorgeous and well-mannered young girl she is. Belle has got to be the most perfect Dachshund I have ever seen. Every about her is so perfectly proportioned. Belle has the most perfect Dachshund Platypus front paws and legs. Her ears are silky soft and frame her angelic face. Her body is long and sturdy. Belle has the perfect bowlegged Dachshund back legs and feet. She is just amazingly perfect, and the personality to match! You couldn’t ask for more! Belle loves to sleep in the big bed with her foster sisters. She loves to snuggle and be held like a teddy bear. She never barks unless someone comes to the door. She LOVES to go for walks and rides in the car. When Belle sees the leash she dances around in circles and gives a little happy woof and nudges to your legs to get her leash on, she can’t get it on or get out of the house fast enough. There is not anything we can find that Belle doesn’t like. We can’t believe that anyone would EVER give her up. Belle was owner surrender to the pound. They only have 72 hours as owner surrender. A kind and loving shelter worker there called Rescue and off we went! And let me tell you it seems that some people must really make up stories when they give up their dogs. Belle’s kennel card said: that they said they had had her since a 6-week-old puppy that is believable. But then it went on to say that Belle was very aggressive, didn’t like cats, chickens (?) or any other dogs. They must have been confused, very confused. There are 3 cats in Belle’s foster home. She is very curious about them – she looks at them across the baby gate, sometimes whines, but doesn’t bark at them usually. Over one weekend Belle was in the company of 6 other dogs 3 females and 3 males, without a peep out of her. She snuggled with all them and got along just GREAT!!!! When she first came to foster she seemed a bit shy and would scrunch down when she was petted. It may be that has suffered some past abuse at the hands of a human. However she seems to have totally forgotten it now, thankfully. Belle gets along with everyone, men, women, children (10 and up). She’s not too bad with the cats but would need supervision to introduce them very slowly and get used to each other. We haven’t tested her with chickens yet. Dachshunds have a strong hunter instinct and would not be expected to get along with them though. Other than that, Belle doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body. Sometimes in the past she has had a litter of puppies. If you are looking for the perfect well mannered, social, loveable Dachshund, look no further. Belle is the one. And she will love you FOREVER. Andie’s is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!!

Good morning everyone!  We are still having a few little problems with the blog — so please hand there with us : )  Well our friends at All American Dachshund Rescue have been busy…well they are ALWAYS busy : )  We can’t thank them enough for all that they do!  Here is a real cutie pie for you to take a peek at!  How cute is he??? I mean really!  He could be that new family member that you have been looking for!

Andie is a beautiful 3 year old dachshund who still has a lot of puppy in her. Her coat is shiny and healthy and she has perfect markings for a black and tan.  She belonged to a nice family here in SC who took great care of her and the other 5 dachshunds they owned. According to the owner, a neighbor reported them for having this many dogs and for the barking and animal control was going to confiscate 4 of the 6 dachshunds. She got in touch with AADR and we were able to take them in before they went to the shelter. Andie and her fur-mom, Mae-Belle (who is also available to adopt) are being fostered here and get along great. They love to follow eachother in the backyard and to sleep together. They also do well in a crate together while I’m gone. Although they are not bonded and can be adopted out separately, I would love to keep them together.  They are very different in personality but really compliment eachother in such a way that it’s a joy to see them interact and to have them both in my home!  If Andie is adopted out separately, the home must have another dachshund that will keep her company. She gets along great with my dachshunds and 45 pound sheltie/husky mix. She has grown up being around other dachshunds and I think she would be lonely without them.

Andie LOVES to run in the backyard and go “hunting” for little creatures. She also loves to chase after balls and is starting to understand that if she brings it back, we will throw it again! For this reason, I think Andie would be happiest in a home with a fenced in yard and NEVER be left off a leash. Once she gets a scent of something, there is no stopping her. Andie also is total snugglebug! She would give you kisses all day long if you let her and she is sleeping on my lap as I write this. She loves to be held and hugged on but also does well on her own by taking afternoon naps in the sun. She walks well on a leash and comes when called. She barked quite a bit the first couple of days that we had her but now that she has become comfortable in our home, she rarely barks except for if someone knocks on the door, etc. She really responds well to a quick “No” and goes back to doing her business.

Andie did have some potty accidents when she first came to stay with us. Now after 2 weeks, the accidents are becoming far and few between and she will either go outside or on a potty pad. She doesn’t ask to go out yet so she will have to be kept on a regular schedule. She will need someone who is patient and can show her the ropes with pottying and help her as she is adjusting. She has been through so much this past month and she is just looking for someone who has lots of love to give her and someone who can let her know that she is finally safe and loved. If this is you, you will be rewarded by plenty of Andie’s kisses and snuggles!! Won’t you consider giving Andie her true furever home?

First we would like to thank EVERYONE for dropping by and helping little Joanie — she has a long road in front of her but she is doing so much better and one day in the near future will be much healthier! Before coming into rescue BARBIE did NOT have a good life. She came to us with a hernia and horrible teeth, we could see she had been bred too many times and she was given up by her owners! We have repaired her hernia, fixed her teeth and now she’s ready for her forever home. She also had skin issues, we think from a poor diet because now that we have her on a good quality of dog food her skin is looking much better. Barbie is very sweet, uses the doggie door, doesn’t bark and ask for nothing in return from you but a nice bed and good food. She is very undemanding. She is on a diet now to loose about 4 lbs. Please please give Barbie the home she so richly deserves after living in misery before, please help HER!!
