BECKY ANN came from a small shelter her in TN along with we think her mom. Becky Ann was adopted out and returned because they said she was not housebroken. She needs a fenced in yard that she can go out into along with another dog that can show her the roads. She needs positive reinforcement to learn what is right and wrong. We’ve had no problems with her here since she has been back but we have a fenced in yard and dogie door. Becky Ann is sweet sweet beyond words and loves to do her own thing or follow you around the house. She will play a little with the other dogs but is more mellow that playful. BIO: Hondo was a well loved dog but his family did not have time for him.  He is such a wonderful dog.  Hondo is AKC certified.  He loves to have his belly rubbed and wants to sit with you.  He really enjoys sleeping in the big bed and hates the kennel. He is a great companion and will follow you to make sure you are okay.  He does pull when he is on a leash because he didn’t get a lot of walking time before but at his foster home, he is learning how to be a better walking partner.  He really loves a house that has a doggy door so he can go outside and lay in the sun or just smell everything.  He does really well with other dogs and would do great in a home where he has someone to play with.  He needs to lose about 4 pounds but is working on that!!  Hondo is a great man dog – he prefers men over women but will also give love to a woman!  Hondo deserves a great home that has the time for him.  Can you give him that home?

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

andie the adorable!

Good morning everyone!  We are still having a few little problems with the blog — so please hand there with us : )  Well our friends at All American Dachshund Rescue have been busy…well they are ALWAYS busy : )  We can’t thank them enough for all that they do!  Here is a real cutie pie for you to take a peek at!  How cute is he??? I mean really!  He could be that new family member that you have been looking for!

Andie is a beautiful 3 year old dachshund who still has a lot of puppy in her. Her coat is shiny and healthy and she has perfect markings for a black and tan.  She belonged to a nice family here in SC who took great care of her and the other 5 dachshunds they owned. According to the owner, a neighbor reported them for having this many dogs and for the barking and animal control was going to confiscate 4 of the 6 dachshunds. She got in touch with AADR and we were able to take them in before they went to the shelter. Andie and her fur-mom, Mae-Belle (who is also available to adopt) are being fostered here and get along great. They love to follow eachother in the backyard and to sleep together. They also do well in a crate together while I’m gone. Although they are not bonded and can be adopted out separately, I would love to keep them together.  They are very different in personality but really compliment eachother in such a way that it’s a joy to see them interact and to have them both in my home!  If Andie is adopted out separately, the home must have another dachshund that will keep her company. She gets along great with my dachshunds and 45 pound sheltie/husky mix. She has grown up being around other dachshunds and I think she would be lonely without them.

Andie LOVES to run in the backyard and go “hunting” for little creatures. She also loves to chase after balls and is starting to understand that if she brings it back, we will throw it again! For this reason, I think Andie would be happiest in a home with a fenced in yard and NEVER be left off a leash. Once she gets a scent of something, there is no stopping her. Andie also is total snugglebug! She would give you kisses all day long if you let her and she is sleeping on my lap as I write this. She loves to be held and hugged on but also does well on her own by taking afternoon naps in the sun. She walks well on a leash and comes when called. She barked quite a bit the first couple of days that we had her but now that she has become comfortable in our home, she rarely barks except for if someone knocks on the door, etc. She really responds well to a quick “No” and goes back to doing her business.

Andie did have some potty accidents when she first came to stay with us. Now after 2 weeks, the accidents are becoming far and few between and she will either go outside or on a potty pad. She doesn’t ask to go out yet so she will have to be kept on a regular schedule. She will need someone who is patient and can show her the ropes with pottying and help her as she is adjusting. She has been through so much this past month and she is just looking for someone who has lots of love to give her and someone who can let her know that she is finally safe and loved. If this is you, you will be rewarded by plenty of Andie’s kisses and snuggles!! Won’t you consider giving Andie her true furever home?
